Answer
·  When was TeamDFC formed?

DFC was formed by Bob Wengerd and Rich Holmes in 2000. We started out with a badly beaten race car that was donated to us by fellow racer, John Holmes. Without his kind donation and weekly support, we would have never made it. THANKS John!

For a complete history of TeamDFC, see "A Brief History of DFC Racing".

·  What does DFC stand for?

While building our first car, Rich and I kept asking each other for opinions on how certain things should be put together. We both seemed to give the same reply each time -- "I Don't Fu@%ing Care!"

While the car was getting lettered (thanks Dave), we were asked if we had a name for our team. We both gave the same old reply, and the rest is history!

·  What awards has TeamDFC won?

Well, Rich Holmes won Rookie of the Year at Wayne County Speedway in 2000.
He was also awarded Most Improved Driver Of The Year for 2003 at Wayne County Speedway.
We'll keep working on new ones in the future...

·  Who does what in TeamDFC?

  • Rich Holmes: Driver, parts/tool breaker, big hammer operator.
  • Bob Wengerd: The stupid bastard that keeps fixing whatever Richie breaks, and the engine builder.
  • Bill Franks: Chassis design and fabrication
  • Our friends & family: Help us keep doing what we love every week!

·  Is Bob really Richie's dad?

NO Damnit!! He's only a couple years older than Richie!

·  Can I donate to or sponsor TeamDFC?

Yes! We welcome both donations and sponsorships!

Please see the following articles for more info on each:

"Donating to TeamDFC"
"Sponsoring TeamDFC"

·  What is a "Tech Nazi"?

A Tech Nazi is any track inspector that nit-picks "certain cars" for imaginary rules violations while over looking obvious infractions on other "certain cars". A bad-ass attitude and lack of people skills are also required.

·  Why does DFC Racing only race on dirt?

Because asphalt is for getting to the track. Dirt is where all the real racing happens!

·  So,are you guys new to racing or what?

Not exactly

  • The Holmes family has been involved in circle track racing for nearly 30 years now. Richie learned his way around a car in those years and had plenty of experience before strapping on a helmet for the first time in 2000. He proved that by winning Rookie Of The Year honors at Wayne County Speedway that same year.

  • The Wengerd family has been dirt tracking since 1970. For the most part they've been car owners and builders/tuners. They've had the great opportunity to work with such drivers as Pete Bonewit, Steve Mangel, and Dean Alexander. Bob did some driving in his early years and still sneaks behind the wheel from time to time. For a few years he also pulled double duty between the dirt tracks and drag strips. During that time he picked up 3 track championships at 2 different tracks and competed in several national events piloting everything from a tow vehicle (sorry Dad) to a rail dragster. He returned to his roots full time when DFC Racing was formed. Over the years he's also built engines for circle track and drag racers.
