DFC Racing

See what happens when a race track invites just anybody to race at their track? ;-) This week they invited the Mini Truck class and they all seemed pretty eager to try out this new track. Brandon Craver showed just how eager he was by coming from the tail to win the first heat race. He had to settle for 2nd in the feature but it sure wasn't from lack of trying. This young fella has had my attention for a few years now, and I think he's got a bright future ahead of him. If only he wasn't so scared of my dog. ;-) Rumor has it that he'll be stepping up to a Pure Stock next season, and with a little seat time, I think he'll be a contender before too long. With his legendary father looking over his shoulder, I think he's already got a head start. Just keep your head on straight Brandon, or I'll have to kick ya in the ass (again)!

All of the other classes had their share of excitement too and the Late Model feature was quite a battle the whole way. I hated to see what happened to Baker while running up front, but he'll be back to give them a show next time I'm sure. He seems to have that track figured out as well as anybody and better than most. Rory Reed showed us that a Modified only needs 3 wheels headed the right way, unless the caution comes out. He was much faster though when he came back out with it fixed. ;-) Fred Snyder showed us that while the right rear tire is pretty important on a Pure Stock, a seasoned veteran like him can still run half a race without it. All in all it was another action packed night of racing at Hilltop, and the show went on without a hitch. It was great to see a field of 26 Pure Stocks there! I was also pleasantly surprised to see Bob and Kathy McClelland in the pits for the first time in several years. It was nice to catch up on sheep stories and such. ;-)

Thanks goes out to Ken Cunningham of RaceOhio for the picture.
