Since I got my ass chewed pretty good tonight for my recent lack of updates, I figured I better get busy. You folks just won't cut an old man any slack will ya? ;-) First off, it sure felt strange being at the track without a car. This was the year that I planned on spending more time in a car than under one, but I have nobody but myself to blame for selling the one I had. Shit happens and I'll get over it I guess while my search for a new toy will go on. Anyway, it was sure worth the trip to the track for practice day with or without a car. Winter can be cruel, and the smell of racing fuel becomes just a fond memory within weeks of the season ending. This is the time of the year that we get to suck those sweet fumes in, eat race track junkfood, and shoot the shit with old friends. Oh yea,, and get some racing in too. For the most part things seemed to go pretty smoothly tonight, although it might have been a good idea to have a tow truck on hand for a practice night. I guess you can't ask for everything all at once huh? It's always interesting to see all the new cars and new drivers at the beginning of the season, and tonight was no exception. Some folks had a pretty good night, while at least a couple others went home hanging their heads. We did get to learn just how tight you can wind a fresh small block Chevy before it scatters all over the track though. Thanks Paul, for your research, but you really didn't have to do that to your good engine. ;-) You have my number so just let me know what you need to get that shiny new car back out there. One of the new drivers that had a pretty good night was our buddy Jeff Facemire. He made his debut in the Pure Stock class with Rory Reed's old Camaro. He had a couple minor mechanical setbacks, but by the end of the night he was looking pretty damn good out there. I'm sure it will take him some time to feel completely comfortable in the car, but he's already off to a damn good start. Just watch for him in the #18 car this season, and I think he'll prove to you that he can compete with the strong class of Pure Stocks at WCS. All in all, it was a fun night and it was great to talk to some folks that I don't get to see nearly often enough. It reminded me of exactly why I love this sport so much. Now it also makes me want to step up my search for a new car even more. Oh yea,,,I've got it BAD!! See ya at the track folks....................
