It's been a long and busy winter, but it's finally almost time to hit the track again. Teams and tracks are all scrambling to get things in order to kick off the 2007 season, while the fans are more than a little eager to get back to the best sport on the face of the earth. Well all I can say is, it's about damn time!!
Mother Nature has already tried to put a damper on our fun by causing the cancellation of the first pratice at Hilltop. The shitty weather has also delayed some of the improvements at the track but they're moving forward as fast as possible to get things completed before opening day. The new stands and expanded parking and pit areas will surely pay off in the end.
Some teams were almost happy to have a little more time to finish up, and they made good use of that time. Jeff Facemire's car was treated to some flashy new lettering, while Denny Shear's ride finally started to look like a car again, complete with a fresh coat of paint. It should be lettered soon and both of their cars should be making noise by the end of the week if all goes well. Rumor has it that there will be another Pure Stock to keep an eye on this year too. This could be a pretty interesting season for that class from the looks of things. Mike Miller's car is nearly finished now also, and it should be ready for some practice laps soon. Hopefully my next update will include some pics of some finished race cars at the very least, and hopefully some good news from practice days. I know I'm not the only one that's ready for the sound and smell of a field of race cars tearing up the track. Let's go racin' dammit!!
