The Fun Returns!!

We just got back from Lakeville and it sure felt good to have fun again at the track. Not only did we get plenty of testing done before the races but the rest of the night wasn't too bad either. And we didn't have to spend the entire day at the track. Including changing a tire and loading the car in the dark, we were loaded and ready to go home at 10:00!!! Imagine that. Racing didn't start until 7:30 and we were still ready to roll out the gates just 2 1/2 hours later. And best of all, our class was treated as part of the racing show too. Wow,,what a difference!! Anyway, onto the racing stuff. During the testing we made a few changes, and it was clear that we still don't quite have the gear we need with this motor but we're not too far off. Richie has always found his way around this track just fine so we were in decent shape for the night. He started 4th in the heat race and turned some awesome laps but also over drove it a few times which left him with a 4th place finish. He started 7th in the feature and found himself stuck in traffic for way too long but eventually got rolling in the right direction. He was smart enough to follow one of the aces of Lakeville, Roger Drouhard, for a while to learn a few things but was then ready to take a shot at Roger himself. He was running out of time and luck at the same time though as the right front tire started going down. On the last lap, the tire finally gave up and sent Ol' #9 into the front stretch wall but not before he crossed the line in 6th place. We'll gladly take that since the car really isn't hurt too bad and we had a blast all night. It was awesome to a run a 20 lap feature!! It was also nice to get paid for the spot we actually finished in, for once. I could get used to this. Now, I'm not saying we won't return to WCS by any means. That has always been my favorite track and I would love to run there as much as we can, but it's just not looking very practical right now. We'll have to see how things go at both places before making any decisions for the rest of the season. The most important thing is that we got back to having fun and that's the only reason we do this racing stuff in the first place. Let's hope the fun continues!!
